The Okotoks Dawgs ended their two-game series with the Medicine Hat Mavericks tonight (June 29) putting the game to rest in the bottom of the twelfth inning, winning 6-5.

Jarrett Burney got the winning run at Seaman Stadium and sent the fans home happy.

The Mavericks would take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Jordan Phillips double would score Brody Gardner in for the opening run.

Defence took over for both teams until the bottom of the fourth with the Dawgs taking the lead 2-1.

Nash Crowell got the first run for the Dawgs when he got across home plate after a wild pitch. Spencer Sullivan scored Logan Grant for a run shortly after to give the Dawgs their first lead of the ball game.

Okotoks added to their lead at the bottom of the sixth when Grant got his second run of the game when Lou Anderson hit a sacrifice fly out to left field.

Medicine Hat would answer back in the top of the seventh and then tie it up in the top of the ninth, sending the ball game to extra innings.

The Dawgs and Mavericks would trade runs in the tenth and eleventh innings, getting runs from Kadyn Williams and Tucker Zdunich.

Okotoks then blanked the Maverick in the top of the twelfth only needing a single run to win the game. Burney would be that guy getting the last run of the game.

The Okotoks Dawgs are back at Seaman Stadium tomorrow for an afternoon game set for 2:05 when they host the Swift Current 57s for the first time this season.
