For those who plan to wear sunscreen this weekend, it would be best to check which brand you are using.

According to Health Canada, several lots of sunscreen have been recalled due to fungal contamination.

Nine lots of Suntegrity Impeccable Skin Sunscreen Foundation with 15 per cent Zinc Oxide, which is a medium-coverage foundation that also provides protection from harmful UV rays, have been affected by the contamination.

The affected lot numbers are 101MO, 106BR, 107IV, 107NU, 109NU, 113SA, 114SA, 115BU, and 117BU.

Health Canada advises people to check to see if their product is one of the ones affected and to consult a healthcare professional before continuing to use the product.

Anyone who experiences side effects from a health product is encouraged to report the side effects to Health Canada.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the U.S. says that while fungal infections can range from mild to life-threatening, those with a weakened immune system, such as from illness, age, or medical treatments, are more at risk for most fungal infections.

Some symptoms of a fungal infection are asthma-like symptoms, fatigue, headache, itchy or scaly skin, and muscle achy or joint pain.

Suntegrity Skincare had already done a voluntary recall of multiple shades of Suntegrity Impeccable Skin Sunscreen Foundation in the U.S.A. on June 11th, 2024, due to Microbial Contamination.
