Cavalry FC failed to hoist the new North Star Cup over the weekend.

The league winning club went head-to-head against the Forge FC from Hamilton and lost 2-1.

The Canadian Premier League Championship match was on Saturday in Hamilton.

The teams were knotted up at 1 heading into extra minutes when Forge scored in the 111th minute for the victory on home turf.

The first goal of the match didn't come until the 101st minute with Cavalry's Ali Musse scoring but Forge replied shortly after with the equalizer.

Tristan Borges of the Forge scored in a remarkable corner kick sending the hometown crowd into pandemonium as the Forge clutched their fifth title in the CPL and the first-time winners of the newly minted North Star Cup.

And while the season is over it isn't quite over for both teams as they get to compete in the Concacaf Champions Cup in February.
