Former Okotoks minor hockey goaltender Gage Alexander has been shipped off the Detroit Red Wings in a trade.

Alexander and a conditional fourth-round pick are headed off to Motor City in exchange for centre Robby Fabbri after the Ducks and Red Wings made a trade on July 3rd.

During his time with the Okotoks Oilers U15 AA squad, Alexander posted a 2.41 GAA, with a .929 save percentage, and put up a record of 11-1-4 in the 2016-2017 season.

For the 2017-2018 season, he would split time between the Rockyview Raiders U16 AAA team and the Okotoks Oilers U18 AAA team. Alexander then finished off his minor hockey career with the U18 AAA Oilers, playing in 18 games, posting a 2.52 GAA and a .918 save percentage.

Since going pro, Alexander has split time in the AHL and ECHL as a depth goaltender for the Anaheim Ducks organization. He is expected to start with the Grand Rapids Griffins this coming season.
