An increase in graffiti around the town of Okotoks has continued to present a problem for the town.
Town parks staff have had to clean up over 200 graffiti tags a week, according to a Town of Okotoks release.
They’re being found on all kinds of outdoor surfaces, including on pathways, public restrooms, benches, and bridges.
The Okotoks Skatepark in particular has been a hotspot, according to Parks Manager Christa Michailuck.
Anyon caught vandalizing public property in Okotoks can face charges, with fines as high as $2,500 for adults and $1,000 for youths, per incident.
Anyone who sees graffiti on public property is asked to call municipal enforcement at (403) 938-8913, or 911 if vandalism is in progress.
