This week's weather conditions led to a Fire Advisory being declared in the Town of Claresholm.

The increased fire risk posed by the hot, dry conditions was cited in the announcement sent out by the town on July 9 at 4 p.m.

Under a Fire Advisory, things like backyard fire pits, pellet or gas-fueled stoves, and barbecues are allowed, whereas fireworks and open burning of yard waste are prohibited.

Other fire restrictions in the area include Fire Advisories in Foothills and Vulcan County and a Fire Restriction in the MD of Willow Creek.

The towns of Okotoks, High River, and Black Diamond do not currently have any fire restrictions in effect.

Fire restriction statuses can be seen on the Alberta Fire Bans website.
