The Okotoks Oilers will take on the Drumheller Dragons in their upcoming Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) South Division Semifinal series.

The #2-seeded Dragons will take on the #4-seeded Oilers, after the #6-seeded Canmore Eagles defeated the #3 Camrose Kodiaks in the seventh game of their first round series today, meaning they will take on the top-seeded Brooks Bandits in the other semi. Drumheller beat the Calgary Canucks in six games in the first round.

It will be the fourth time in franchise history that the two teams have met in a postseason series, but the first since 2012, when the Oilers swept the Dragons in three games in the then-best of five first round. Prior to that, the Dragons beat the Oilers in five games in the best of seven second round in 2008, upsetting the then-second ranked Oilers, and Okotoks won the first matchup between the two in 2007, winning in five games of a best of five opening round.

In the regular season, the Dragons took four of six games this year, defeating the Oilers 5-3 on September 25th in Okotoks before the Oilers responded with a 2-0 win in Drumheller on October 8th and a 3-0 win in Okotoks on October 9th. The Dragons then won the next three straight; a 6-1 win in Okotoks on October 15th, and back to back 4-3 wins in Drumheller on December 17th and January 15th.

Drumheller will host the first two games of the series on Friday, March 18th and Saturday, March 19th, before the series shifts to Okotoks for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday, March 22nd and Wednesday, March 23rd. If necessary, Game 5 would be in Drumheller on Saturday, March 26th, Game 6 in Okotoks on Tuesday, March 29th, and Game 7 in Drumheller on Friday, April 1st.

Puck drop will be at 7:00 PM for all games, with pre-game radio coverage starting at 6:45 PM on The Eagle 100.9.
