Almost 70 racers took to Crystal Ridge Drive Saturday, August 21 for the 31st annual Rotary Club of Okotoks Soap Box Derby!

The carts took on classic, colourful and strange forms as they ripped down the hill in a battle of speed.

Okotoks youth Brody Poulin took home the coveted trophy as the fastest on this hill this year with a top speed of 44 km/h.

Rotary President, Jeff Foss, says it was a great year for new racers.

"Almost half of the kids were first-timers, many of whom vowed to build a faster cart for next year. I think we had more spectators as well and our sponsors were amazing."
