The Okotoks Oilers scored 14 goals over a pair of games at the Centennial arena over the Halloween themed weekend.

The Oilers doubled up on the visiting Lloydminster Bobcats 6-3 on Friday night and then the kids and fans dressed up for Halloween and came out Sunday looking to scare up a win for the Oil and indeed they did.

All kids that dressed up in their Halloween costumes got in free to the Sunday matinee and cheered their team onto an 8-1 victory over the Drayton Valley Thunder.

The two wins propelled the Oilers into the 7th position in the AJHL standings, reminder that there's no North or South division this season.

The Oilers stumbled out of the gate on Sunday, much like that they did on Friday night and surrendered a goal within the first minute of the game.

But the Thunder couldn't stop the Oilers power play as they went 4-for-9 in the game with two Oilers notching their first AJHL goals.

Thomas Matt and Sam Hall scored their first AJHL goals with Hall adding another along with two assists and was named the Oilers star of the game. Other goal scorers for the Oil include Sam Huck, Connor Gourley - who later had to leave the game after a bodycheck to the head and would not return, Jagger Tapper would add two and Brett Wilson rounded out the scoring.

The team's moved into 7th place in the AJHL, just one point back of tying for fourth place.  Reminder there are no North or South divisions this season.

The team now heads up to Olds to tangle with the Grizzlys tomorrow night on Halloween.

You can listen to all the play-by-play on the Eagle 100.9 or stream it from the Okotoks Online website. The 15-minute pre-game show kicks off the coverage starting at 6:45 p.m.
