It was the old good news, bad news situation on the weekend in high school football provincials.

The good news saw the Foothills Composite Falcons defeat L.C.I. 42-24 to win the Tier I South final and advance to next weekend's Provincial Championship.

They'll take on Salisbury from Edmonton for the title after they advanced with a 13-10 win over Paul Kane High School.

The bad news is despite a very close game, the Holy Trinity Academy Knights will not get to defend their Tier II championship after a 17-15 loss to Cochrane.

The Cobras will take on Austin O'Brien for the championship after their 23-5 win over Hunting Hills.
