Okotoks' community outdoor boarded rink is nearing completion.

The multi-use rink will be open year-round, with plans for it to be flooded for the winter months. For the non-winter months, the rink will be available for activities such as lacrosse, floor hockey, and roller skating. There will also be four basketball nets for anyone interested.

The rink will be available for non-programmed, drop-in activities at first, but there may be opportunities to book ahead of time in the future.

Located in the parking lot at the John Paul II Collegiate Junior High School, it's expected to be opened this winter.

Construction on the new rink began in July, and according to the town's website, it was expected to be completed by the end of October.
