The Town of Okotoks is moving forward with plans for an outdoor rink.

At their latest meeting, town council voted to move ahead with procurement for the project, which is set to be installed in the John Paul II Collegiate parking lot.

The partnership between the town and Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools will see the rink used for school curriculum activities as well as drop-in leisure activities for the general public.

It’s planned to be open all year, with activities planned for the warmer months including floor hockey and lacrosse.

The $500,000 project will include transparent panels, connections to pathways, and lighting.

The rink is expected to be completed in late 2022.
