The Calgary Flames have announced that they are parting ways with Jacob Markstrom and sending him to the New Jersey Devils.

The package the Flames received is a 2025 first round pick which is top 10 protected as well as soon to be 24-year-old Kevin Bahl.

Bahl is a big defenseman standing at 6'6" and weighing in at 229 pounds, so far in the NHL he has played a total of 148 games for the Devils spanning across four seasons and has a total of 25 points.

With the Flames sending Markstrom to New Jersey, they will also retain 31.25 per cent of his contract for the remaining two years on his deal giving the Devils some cap flexibility.

In the four years that Markstrom spent with the "C" of Red he played in 213 games, winning 105 of them, posting a 2.63 goals against average and a save percentage of .907.

With the move, Dustin Wolf could take the reins for the Flames as they transition with new faces and getting a younger roster put together.

With the trade, the 34-year-old netminder joins his fourth NHL team as he played for the Florida Panthers, Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames and now the New Jersey Devils.
