The Foothills School Division summer school program is reporting success.

Summer School Principal Stacey Burrows says the program is designed to promote meaningful learning and allow students to learn in a quieter, more one on one setting.

The FSD Summer School program has seen lots of success, 235 students from the FSD and surrounding area met every weekday between July 2nd and July 30th.

Of those 235 students 98% of students passed their classes, also included in that 235 students were 49 diploma writers and of those 96% passed their final exam.

Burrows says the fast paced 22 days allows students to button down and focus on the task at hand rather than focus over the entirety of the year.

The students that attended summer school this year were asked to fill out a survey at the end of the year. 81% of students said they took summer school by their own choosing to either open up space for their next semeseter or improve their grades, 93% of students rated summer school as excellent with most others rating just below and 83% said they would return to summer school.
