A first-degree murder charge has been laid relating to the discovery of remains found during a grass fire in April.

On April 3, the Tsuut’ina Nation Fire Department was responding to a grass fire in Rocky View County, when personnel discovered human remains.

A homicide investigation was carried out, with the Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit (MCU) taking over the investigation.

An autopsy the next day identified the victim as 33-year-old Kyle Schuiling of Calgary.

This morning (May 14) the MCU confirmed that 39-year-old Christopher Stack of Calgary was charged with the first-degree murder of Schuiling on May 3.

Stack has already appeared for a Judicial Interim Hearing and two other court appearances and has been remanded to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on May 27.
