It's that time of year again, budget time.

Municipal councils are getting together and going over next year's plans and determining just how much it's going to cost taxpayers.

In High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass says they're still very early in the process.

"Everybody's working as hard as we can to try to get this done before the end of the year, but I'm never worried about rushing a budget," he says. "I'd rather make sure the budget's done properly rather than rushing it to make sure it's done by Christmas."

In past years council passed an interim budget to get them into the new year and then worked out the details early in the new year.

The 2023 budget saw a 2.2 per cent increase on average.
