The Southern Alberta District RCMP are reporting a decrease in rural crime.

According to an RCMP media release, January to March of 2024 saw 76 fewer person offences, 213 fewer property crime offences, and 373 fewer criminal code offences compared to the same time last year.

They also reported the following decreases in this first quarter compared to last year's:

  • Break and Enters decreased 18.4%
  • Theft of Motor Vehicles decreased 21.9%
  • Theft under $5,000 decreased 17.7%

The Southern Alberta district stretches as far north as Lake Louise and Three Hills down to the U.S. border but doesn't include Calgary.
