A Claresholm RCMP vehicle was struck by a semi-truck this afternoon.

At around 12:15 p.m., an officer was conducting a traffic stop on Northbound Highway 2 north of Stavely and had parked the police car on the side of the road with the emergency lights on.

According to RCMP, a northbound semi-tractor trailer didn't change to the leftmost lane to avoid the police cruiser and vehicle that had been pulled over and collided with the RCMP car.

Luckily, the officer was standing by the vehicle that had been pulled over, though the officer did sustain minor injuries from debris.

The driver that had been pulled over wasn't injured, though the vehicle did receive some damage.

Police are still on scene along with an RCMP collision reconstructionist.

As the investigation is still underway, no charges have been laid as of yet.
