A battery storage project proposed to go east of High River is the subject of a public meeting tonight.

Plans are in the works for Calgary-based Enfinite to build a Laramide battery storage facility and substation in Foothills County.

A company spokesperson says they'll be on hand to make a presentation and answer questions area residents may have about the project.

Enfinite owns two pieces of land in the area where the project could go if approved.

The company plans to make an application to the Alberta Utilities Commission this spring and start construction late this year and have it operating in 2025 pending approvals,

The meeting is set for 6:00 p.m. at Blackie School.
