Families in the Foothills got messy in the mud June 23rd. It was the annual Mud Fair Fun Run out at Llyod Park near Red Deer Lake School. The fair promotes the benefits of getting outside and enjoying what nature has to offer. Childen's Commons Ecological Society (CCES) is a not-for-profit society here in the Foothills. Their mission is to provide opportunities for children to access natural spaces and have a hands-on educational play to help further their understanding of the world around them.

The Mud Fair Fun Run started with a short run through the park. Families could enjoy food from food trucks on location to refuel. People of all ages were welcome to participate in mud activities. There was a huge mud-slide that people sped down, a mud-pit to splash in, and a mud kitchen to make mud pies. For those feeling creative, they could get their face painted with clay or do it themselves. To rinse off the mud a water truck was onsite to spray down those covered head to toe in mud.
