The Town of Okotoks will be replacing 40 black ash trees in the downtown area today.

The tree replacement is part of the Downtown Urban Design project. The trees chosen for removal were identified as dead or dying.

Black ash trees have been deemed unsuitable for the area, because of their susceptibility to cottony psyllid disease.

The tree replacement process will be ongoing until 7 p.m. today.
