Team Alberta continues its quest for gold at the 2023 WHL Cup tonight in Red Deer.
Carter Esler is backstopping the U16 Team Alberta.
The goalie for the Okotoks Bow Mark Oilers of the Alberta Elite league was named to the team earlier this month by Hockey Alberta.
The tournament got underway Wednesday with Alberta taking on Team Manitoba and coming away with a 4-2 win. Esler didn't get any icetime as he was the backup goalie for the game. No word on who'll get the start in net Thursday or Friday.
Alberta will battle Saskatchewan Thursday night and British Columbia Friday.
Semi-finals are Saturday, with the finals on Sunday.
