Okotoks' Finlay Knox who grew up as part of the Okotoks Mavericks swim club is golden once again.

Knox won gold at the World Aquatics Championships in February in his specialty the 200m Individual Medley (IM) and just set a new record on the weekend.

He shaved time off his Canadian record in Toronto at the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Swimming Trials.

His record of 1:56.64 was broken with a new time of 1:56.07.

In a release from Swimming Canada, Knox is quoted “Tonight’s a big win, winning the world championship was a big win and just using it as a fuel to the fire and every time I step out now, knowing what I’m capable of doing.”

He's also won the 100m freestyle and qualified for the 100m butterfly with a bronze medal performance.

He's now off to the Paris Olympics this summer.

In the previous 2020 Olympics, Knox's first games, he finished 17th in the 200m IM.
