On Friday, June 14, Foothills Advocacy in Motion (FAIM) officially opened its new Okotoks facility.

The organization, which has been supporting adults with developmental disabilities to live and find work in their communities since 1980, has been looking for a new space in town for a few years now.

The grand opening was well-attended, drawing a crowd of Okotokians eager to welcome the expansion.

Executive Director Gerry McCallum addressed those in attendance.

“I consider many residents of Okotoks as friends of FAIM. So, this expansion into this new property here is very important for us. It allows us to double our footprint here in Okotoks to 8,500 square feet. This is important because it allows us to offer support to many people. This branch here in Okotoks faces the greatest demands. There are people sitting at home waiting for supports that we’ve been unable to support because of our operational size, so this is good news. This is a fantastic thing.”

The new location at 325 Woodgate Road used to be the Okotoks RCMP detachment before their move in 2014.
