Schools in the Foothills Division have been a beehive of construction activity, whether it's a modernization or new door hardware.

Assistant superintendent Drew Chipman says the Blackie School modernization is all but complete.

"We received occupancy for all of the spaces, there's some deficiencies that we're working on, there's some outside work that'll have to be done and then we'll be able to get that project all wrapped up so we're pretty excited about that and Chris (Superintendent Chris Fuzessy) has mentioned how we plan on making sure we have opportunities to get the public in there and see what kind of space that is and the school's principal Chase will be scheduling that with his school council and his school community and we'll be doing that in the next month or so."

The school just received a $250,000 grant from the province for a new playground as well.

Another major project involved moving the Cameron Crossing School.

"We've moved into the new Cameron Crossing facility in the old library in Okotoks which is no longer old, it's been completely refurbished and that's an exciting new space for us as well," Chipman added.

Besides those two larger projects there were also boiler replacements, flooring upgrades, door hardware replacement and building management systems.

Chipman gave kudos to the divIsion's facility services department for their great work every day making sure things are ready for students across the division.
