The Highwood River monitoring in High River began on Friday, May 24.

It's that time of year when the snowpack starts to melt and the ground thaws along with an increase in rain which can cause overland flooding.

In the town's first report on Friday, they stated that the current snowpack and the current flow rate is within normal ranges.

The snowpack in the river basin is between 300 mm and 530 mm of snow water equivalent with the current flow rate between 19 and 46 cubic metres per second and is currently around 26 cubic metres per second.

While there is some rain in this week's forecast it shouldn't affect the current conditions and the snowpack continues its slow melt.

Once we get closer to the peak of the season the town will post LED signs around town to keep everyone informed.

You can also go to their website to check current conditions.
