If you went out in the woods today in Okotoks, you might have seen a big surprise.

The annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic took place at Ethel Tucker Park on Thursday with no shortage of teddy bears to see.

The event is put on each year by the McMan Family Resource Network in Okotoks and Program Supervisor Taylor Malyon explained a little more about it.

“It's for kids to participate in activities and then we're also able to share resources that we offer families in Okotoks and surrounding areas,” she said. “Being able to meet new people (and) resources and also seeing the kids have a good time bringing their teddy bears.”

Several organizations were also on hand for the event including the Okotoks Public Library, Rowan House Society, the Okotoks Food Bank and the Greater Foothills Family Centre.

Aside from the resources available to parents, kids also had fun with different games and activities from each booth.

Malyon says the Teddy Bear's Picnic always draws a great crowd every year.

“It's been a success every year so far,” she said. “Around three to 500 is normally pretty expected every year.”
