The Okotoks Dawgs put up double digits on the scoreboard again, but for the first time this season, so did their opponents. In Okotoks second game in as many nights, the Dawgs put away the Brooks Bombers on the road after winning 12-11.

With the victory, Okotoks stays undefeated with an 8-0 record with four of those wins coming against the Bombers.

Local talent Brody Forno brought his good stuff tonight (June 5) after relieving starting pitcher William Fife in the second inning with just one out. Forno was a force, punching out five batters in 2.2 innings. Forno wouldn't let a single Bomber cross home plate.

Trent Warstler got credit with the save when he closed the game out in the bottom of the ninth.

Brooks opened the scoring in front of their home crowd getting four runs in the bottom of the first. The Dawgs would answer with five runs at the top of the second to give themselves their first lead of the ball game.

Lou Anderson's home run would also score Barry Eiseman to cut the Bombers' lead in half at the top of the second. Josh DeGroot, Eiji Sawamura, and Ricardo Sanchez all got runs in the inning to give Okotoks the 5-4 lead. The latter two runs were scored off of a Kadyn Williams double.

Brooks replicated their previous inning getting another four runs across home plate and taking the lead back with an 8-5 score.

Dawgs dug deep and didn't let the runs dampen their spirits. They would answer again with three runs in the top of the third tying the game 8-8. Anderson, Jason Arriola, and Sawamura would all get credit with runs.

In the top of the fourth, the Dawgs took their lead back when they added one run to the scoreboard with a run from Nash Crowell. Brooks wouldn't answer at the bottom of the fourth. Connor Crowson added to the lead in the top of the fifth after he hit a solo home run with the second at-bat. Crowell added another run in the top of the fifth to give the Dawgs an 11-8 lead.

DeGroot would get the game-winning run for the Dawgs in the top of the eighth as Brooks would score three more times but it wasn't enough as Okotoks held on to close out the game 12-11.

Okotoks will have a day off tomorrow but will be in Lethbridge Friday to take on the Bulls at 7:05 pm.
