Okotoks' Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) has been approved by town council.

The planned program will create an opportunity for residents to apply for small-interest loans for energy efficiency and renewable energy renovations.

Eligible renovations include tankless water heaters, increased insulation, and combined heat and power.

Residents who choose to take part in the program will see an increase on their property tax bills until the CEIP financing is repaid.

The town's website notes that the program won't impact the property taxes of residents who don't participate in it.

It's to be funded by financing and a grant from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

The program is expected to launch in early 2024.

More information, including a Q&A, can be found on the town's website.
