It took the Okotoks Bisons six games to do it but they did it.

They beat the Medicine Hat Cubs four games to two in the best-of-seven south division Heritage Junior Hockey League finals.

The Bisons got out to an early lead beating the Cubs in their first three games in the series but the Cubs wouldn't go without a fight.

They beat the Bisons in Okotoks on Friday night 7-5 in game five of the series to send it to a game six.

Then the Bisons dispatched the Cubs in the Hat on Saturday night 4-1.

They scored the games first goal from Jaevon Buschlen, assisted by Austin O'Bray but the Cubs tied it up on the powerplay to end the first period knotted up at one.

But the Herd got rolling in the second period as they scored three unanswered goals including one on the power play.

And with no scoring in the last 20 minutes the Bisons secured the win and the series.

Now the Bisons face off against the Cochrane Generals for the Heritage Jr B league title.

It's a best-of-five series with the Bisons getting home ice advantage therefore games one and two will be at the Murray arena on Friday March 18 (8:00 p.m.) and Saturday March 19 (7:30 p.m.).
