The run-away hit TV series, The Last of Us whose first season was filmed in Alberta came home with a big win at last night's MTV Movie & TV Awards.

The Last of Us beat out YellowstoneStranger Things, and The White Lotus among others to take home the Best Show award.

Everyone's favourite father figure, Pedro Pascal also took home the Best Hero award, beating out Jenna Ortgea in Wednesday as well as Hollywood powerhouse Tom Cruise (Top Gun: Maverick).

Pascal and Bella Ramsey also won Best Duo, beating out Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke in Do Revenge as well as Tom Cruise and Miles Teller in Top Gun: Maverick.

But those weren't the only awards the show was nominated for. Anna Torv & Philip Prajoux from the series were nominated for Best Kiss, but unfortunately, it was Madison Bailey & Rudy Pankow from the show Outer Banks that won that award.

Bella Ramsey was also nominated for Best Breakthrough Performance, though that accolade went to Joseph Quinn from Stranger Things.

The Last of Us was also nominated for Best Musical Moment with the song Long, Long Time (Bill and Frank Play Piano), but that award was snagged by Come Back Home in Purple Hearts.

HBO'S The Last of Us is returning for a second season, but the majority of the film shooting will be taking place in neighbouring British Columbia.
