On Friday July 28, an airplane took off from the Springbank Airport in Rocky View County at approximately 8:47 p.m. carrying five passengers along with the pilot.

They were travelling to Salmon Arm, B.C. but at approximately 1:00 a.m., early Saturday morning, the Cochrane and Canmore RCMP were notified by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Trenton (JRCC) that the aircraft did not reach its destination.

A CC-130H Hercules aircraft was brought in to search for the airplane and they were able to find the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) at the crash site.

Alberta Parks Mountain Rescue along with Alpine Helicopters and a Comox-based RCAF Cormorant also assisted in the efforts.

All of the bodies have been recovered.

The cause of the crash is unknown as Transportation Safety Board of Canada continues to investigate.
