400 million+ year old fossils found in Foothills at Stones & Bones weekend

The Stones & Bones weekend was well received by dinosaur and artifact enthusiasts from all over the Foothills.

The two-day event at the Museum of the Highwood had archeologists on hand from the Royal Alberta Museum.

They were helping to identify any items residents had in their possession or collections.

A pestle that was recently dug up on the grounds of Sheppard Family Park was identified although it was too hard to tell how old it was.

There were also some fossils identified as coming from the Paleozoic era between 490 million to 250 million years ago.

Fossils millions of years old were also identified during the Stones & Bones weekend.

One person drove out from Calgary with dinosaur bones found along a riverbank earlier this year.

The event was free to attend and was the first one hosted at the Museum since the pandemic.
