Just weeks after Radiothon the Sheep River Health Trust is back to work.

This time, they are hosting an online 50/50 raffle to raise money for Alberta Health Services in the Foothills.

Candice Wyma of the Sheep River Health Trust says they are doing things differently than they have in the past due to COVID-19.

"This time is a little bit different because we are in the pandemic of COVID-19 we are putting it towards Alberta Health Services, it's going to be supporting our front line health care workers and any programs and services that AHS is going to need coming out of the pandemic."

The Government of Alberta announced earlier this month that charities would be less restricted when it comes to online raffling, Wyma says that makes everything quite a bit easier going forward during and even past COVID-19.

"We're not able to gather in large groups so I think the fact that charities can now do online fundraisers, it really helps. People can now see it on social media, click a button and have a chance to win some money for themselves while supporting a charity at the same time."

Sheep River Health Trust is using a website called Rafflebox.ca and Wyma says people can find a link to reach their raffle on their social media pages.

Wyma says they support so many programs in the foothills and raffles and fundraisers like these are a big reason why they can.

"It helps out so many health and wellness initiatives here in the foothills, every dollar counts, there are so many programs we help fund so we really appreciate when the community comes together to help us do that."

The raffle wraps up July 27th with the draw being done on July 31st.
