The 7th Annual Sheep River Health Trust Radiothon was held in Okotoks on Thursday.

The annual event sees The Eagle 100.9 broadcasting for upwards of 12 hours to raise money for the health trust, though this year's event was a little different.

Whereas the event is usually broadcast from Okotoks Sobeys, this year's event took place outside the Eagle studio.

Despite the location change and health regulations surrounding COVID-19, residents donated a total of $43,125 to the health trust.

Sheep River Health Trust board member Tania Willumsen says the community has consistently supported the organization.

"We really thank you. We appreciate the incredible support we're receiving, and that support has been growing. So thank you to much to everyone in the Foothills County area, from the health trust."

A number of local organizations will benefit, including Rowan House, the Foothills Country Hospice, and It Takes a Village.
