Okotoks will be the official host of the 2020 15U Boys Ray Carter Cup.

A sixty page document was part of a lengthy bid process for the Okotoks Dawgs, but it seems to have paid off.

Angie Cox, Special Events & Community Relations Manager with Dawgs Baseball says they are more than ready to host such a large event.

"The Dawgs haven't hosted a national championship in the past however our academy teams are very familiar with hosting larger tournaments both on the Bantam and Midget side. We've hosted tournaments that have as many, if not more teams than what the national championship will have so it's definitely something that we're capable of doing, excited to do and just looking forward to."

She says the biggest concern is accommodation.

"The biggest thing will be transportation and housing which we're responsible for for all the teams that are coming in. That's going to be definitely an undertaking and something that we've already spoken to some local hotels and transportation businesses as we were doing bid the process."

Tourism Calgary has offered monetary contributions, but the Dawgs will be seeking more funding moving forward.

Cox added that Seaman Stadium is already very well suited for the event, with only minor tweaks and upgrades planned.
