No major increase in COVID-19 cases in the Foothills, in fact, numbers have dropped in a few areas.

The province's municipal numbers show 61 active cases in the Town of Okotoks, with 36 in High River. Vulcan County has seen a relatively significant drop in active cases over the last few weeks, with 70 as of the latest update.

For broader geographic areas, the Black Diamond/Turner Valley region has 16 active cases, with three in Claresholm.

During the live provincial COVID-19 update, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw cautioned Albertans of holiday gatherings, calling back to Thanksgiving, which was shown to have accelerated the spread due to widespread social gatherings.

She says Albertans should prepare for the potential of a much different holiday season, given the fact that we don't yet know what kind of measures will be in place later in the month.

"This is not going to the year for in-person office parties. This is not going to be the year for open houses or large dinners with friends and extended family. If you are making holiday plans, it is best to assume that you will still be limiting contact with anyone outside your household as much as possible and that any larger get-togethers will likely need to be virtual."

Province-wide, 1307 new cases were identified in the last 24 hours after 15,816 tests.

Active cases currently sit at 16,628.

479 Albertans are being treated in hospital, with 97 in intensive care.

10 additional fatalities were reported, bringing the total to 551.

42,305 Albertans have recovered from COVID-19.
