A woman who was facing over a dozen charges in relation to one of the province's largest animal seizures was back in court on Wednesday.

April Irving, 59, had approximately 200 dogs seized from her Milk River property almost five years ago.

Heaven Can Wait animal rescue in High River took in a few of the animals at the time.

Sentencing arguments have begun for Irving who pleaded guilty to offences under the Alberta Animal Protection Act.

She offered guilty pleas back in July to four counts under the province's Animal Protection Act for causing animals to be in distress.

The Crown is seeking about $17,000 in fines, however, as Irving is unable to afford them, her time served in jail along with a pre-trial credit at about five months could act as payment.

They're is also looking at a lifetime ban on Irving owning dogs which is only enforceable in Alberta.

The decision and a date for sentencing will be set in December.
