Alberta RCMP were committed to keeping Albertas roadways safe over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

Operation Impact included policing services across the province working in partnership to encourage good driving behaviour over Thanksgiving.

Despite all the RCMP's visibility and efforts between October 11-14 they're still reporting a high number of violations, and accidents.

RCMP say there were 4 fatal motor vehicle collisions over the weekend, and 272 separate collisions.

18 pedestrians were injured in multiple accidents across the province.

Mounties patrolling roads and highways over the long weekend say they laid 4,402 road safety charges, and of those 3,440 aggressive driving charges were laid which include speeding infractions.

Officers also issued 106 no seat belt tickets, 105 impaired driving charges and 90 distracted driving tickets.

RCMP say they will continue their partnership with local police and Alberta Sheriffs to ensure Albertans drive safely on the roads.
