February 7th is Winter Walk Day in Alberta, and Albertans are encouraged to bundle up and head out for a walk.

The Town of Okotoks will be hosting a Winter Walk Day, where people are able to join others while getting in some exercise.

People are able to head down to the Centennial arenas walking track between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. to participate and get their steps in.

If you wish to walk somewhere other than the walking track at the arenas, you can walk wherever you like, but you are asked to track your steps, minutes walked, or how many kilometres walked, and inform the event coordinators of your results.

The town is collecting the results, because they have set a goal of 23 hours of collective activity from Okotoks residents.

Winter Walk Day is a way of encouraging people to remain active throughout the year, even when the weather turns cold.

Over 100,000 Albertans participated in Winter Walk Day last year.

For more information on how to participate, visit the Town of Okotoks website.
