El Salvador and Thailand again open to Canadian beef exports.

Ted Haney of the Canada Beef Export Federation says the two markets are "non traditional and small" but it's important that the markets have reopened as a "reflection of the ongoing process to trade normalization".

El Salvador is the second Latin American country to resume trade, joining Mexico.

Haney says the Canadian beef industry looks to increase the pre BSE level of 500 thousand tonnes of beef to 800 thousand tonnes.
