A little normal around the holidays could be something we are all needing.

Something I've been missing this year and that is live theatre!!
There is nothing like the stage to help you escape from the world! To watch a fantastic drama unfold a couple of feet from you or the chance to yell at an actor to "TURN AROUND" in a side splitting panto.

A little normal is absolutely what we need!

This Sunday you can grab a little bit of that normal we've all been reaching for with "The Return to the Swing!"

Goodger-Pink Family Theatre was founded in 2013 by Samantha Bell. Returning to Okotoks after attending University in Edmonton, she was inspired by fond memories of her childhood in Okotoks, attending performances of an improv troupe with her family in Ethel Tucker Park. She saw an opportunity to bring family-friendly theatre for all ages to town.

They have been entertaining youth and families ever since. The Drake Landing Park to the RPAC Stage and now... like most things this year. Online!

This year was an interesting one for them as Samantha explains.

"It has been quite a journey as you can imagine! We had our youth children's drama festival plans back in March and that of course was affected from the very first round of the COVID-19 restrictions. So, unfortunately, we had to cancel that at the last minute ... We also cancelled our outdoor summer show. We didn't end up doing that this year, which was too bad because we just love doing that. And then we started to brainstorm what our Christmas show could look like."

Brainstorming they did! Bringing the magic of theatre to your living room the Goodger-Pink Family. Without the ability to rehearse in person they took to Zoom as most of us did this year!

"With the zoom style, we really leaned into all of the cool tech things that we could do with it. And it was certainly a learning curve and my team was so amazing with just their different, creative ideas. Our show every Christmas is a panto style. Big, larger than life characters. Fun sound effects, lots of hilarious gags, and I don't think any of that was actually lost."

This Sunday the 20th at 2pm! Find the tickets HERE!

Samantha is proud of her team! (and so are we!!)

"It truly would not have been possible if it wasn't for the team that I had. And like I, I truly mean that they just went with the flow. They were so excited. Also, I think to be a part of something because I mean we're all creative people and we haven't had much of an outlet for that this year. I can't even tell you how lucky I am to have had the team that I had. They just went on this journey with me."
