One week out from one of my favourite events of the year! The Sheep River Health Trust's 'Together We Can Make a Difference' Radiothon!

Last year was amazing, we were able to raise a total of $43,125. And yes that's a bit lower than what we've been able to do in the past BUT remember we ALL were able to accomplish that in the middle of a flippin pandemic! (go us!)

As for this year, we're going bigger and BETTER.

13 hours on air, food trucks on-site, vendors vending, SRHT collecting incoming donations, and the goal of $60,000. You think we can do it?

Of course, we can! We're the Foothills...and if any community is capable of raising sixty grand for this amazing local initiative it's us!

So here's the lowdown on this year's radiothon, the money raised is going to help the following organizations/projects:

- It Takes a Village - Baby Safe Program

- Surfin Seniors @ the Okotoks Public Library

- Helping Families Handle Cancer

- Patio Refurbishment @ Rising Sun Long Term Care

- Portable Ultrasound Machine  @ Oilfields General Hospital

- Sharp AQYUOS Board  @ Oilfeilds General Hospital

Now there are a number of ways you can donate: You can come down to the Eagle 100.9 parking lot and make a donation, you can text in a donation (see above pic), Sobeys has a till campaign from June 19th - 26th, you can become a health hero, you can donate online AND you also can drink beer.

Yup, you read right. In the month of June Hubtown's Charity Beer of the Months, proceeds are going towards the Sheep River Health Trust.

Lisa, co-owner of Hubtown told us why it was important for them to support the trust this month:

So go grab a cold 1882!

In the last seven years, we as a community, have raised almost $400,000 and have been able to fund so many amazing organizations and programs that surround health and wellness.

Let's keep up the amazing work and end this pandemic, that has had such an impact on our health and wellness, on a high.

Thursday, June 24th, 8th annual Sheep River Health Trust Radiothon, Eagle parking lot, 6 a.m. - 7 p.m., be there for be square!
