Spray Park opening next week

The High River spray park will be opening next week.

Tracy Morgan, with the Recreation department, says it's unfortunate it couldn't be ready for the May long weekend but it's not that simple.

"Our opening date is May 25th, unfortunately, we have to determine that date way back in the fall previous. So, you know, your kind of taking a lot of factors into account when you're making those decisions."

Part of the process is hiring summer staff and getting contractors lined up.

"We have to go in there, get the pipes cleaned, change all the plugs out, and then of course, we have to rely on contractors to be able to come in and those aren't always readily available either."

The spray park, in northwest High River, will be open Thursday through Sunday starting May 25 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. 

That's only until June 27 when kids are out of school and then it'll be open Monday through Sunday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The washrooms will be open on May 25 however plans haven't been confirmed if the concession will be open yet.
