Highway 1 through Kicking Horse Canyon will see some closures in the next few weeks.

With the Kicking Horse Canyon Phase 4 project coming to a close, a stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway will be closed for through traffic for 17 days.

The first closure will span from Sept. 18 to Sept. 22, and then again from Sept. 25 to Oct. 6.

During the closures, traffic will be rerouted to highways 93S and 95, with an additional 1.5 hours of additional travel time expected.

The project will convert the two-lane road into a four-lane standard.

It'll be open for the Thanksgiving long weekend.
