House prices in High River were up 10.1 per cent in December of 2023 compared to the same month a year earlier.

In Okotoks, prices were up 8.6 per cent year-over-year.

The benchmark price for a detached home in High River last month was $513,600 while in Okotoks it was pegged at $626,600.

The Calgary Real Estate Board says supply has been a challenge in Okotoks, impacting sales and prices. 

Inventories have remained near record lows with 34 properties available in High River and 52 in Okotoks.

Home sales in December of 2023 were down 16 per cent in Okotoks from December of 2022 and the number of new listings to come on the market was down 23 per cent from the previous December.

In High River, however, sales were up 12 per cent and the number of new listings rose by nearly 56 per cent year-over-year.
