Construction of a new pump track in High River should be getting started soon.

The head of the Pump Track Society, Jeff Hamilton, says crews will be on their way to town in the next little while.

"The company is just finishing up a pump track in Battleford and then they're headed here, either this weekend or into next week so you'll be able to see the excavators dig and then piling up a lot of dirt and shaping the track," he says.

There was a little bit of a lull, he says, but there were still a lot of things happening behind the scenes to get it going.

"We're working really hard to get this thing built for the people of High River and we're very excited to see it open and have a lot of kids use it so it's an exciting time."

It should be completed and ready for riders about three weeks after work starts depending on the weather.

The track is going to be built next to the Spray Park in the northwest part of the town.
