It's been another momentous week for the High River Pump Track Society.

Jeff Hamilton says they've been able to raise the money needed to get it built.

"I can't thank everybody enough on how helpful and supportive they've been, this community, local businesses, the council, everybody's been really really great," he says.

Among the major sponsors to get on board were Cargill and the HBO movie The Last of Us which donated $100,000 to the town for a legacy project and the Town forwarded $80,000 of that money to the pump track.

Hamilton also pointed to the Rotary Club, the Calgary Foundation, western Financial group, Foothills Kinettes along with the businesses and people of High River who, Hamilton says saw their vision and wanted to see it come to fruition.

The company hired to build the track, Velosolutions, says it'll begin work in July.

"Their business is heavily influenced by the weather, all the projects that they build are outside builds so a lot of this is weather dependant and we're going to have to be open to the fact it may be earlier, it may be later but we're definitely but we're heavily reliant on the weather and whether it rains or not," Hamilton says.

Once the work gets underway, and if there are no interruptions, it takes about three to four weeks to build the track and get it open for use.

He's confident it will get built and riders will be enjoying it before fall.
