The province is looking for feedback on flood hazard maps.

The Ministry of Environment and Protected Places wants to hear from Albertans by February 12.

Most maps focus on floods caused by high river flows when water escapes the river channel, mostly in spring or following summer rainstorms.

The draft maps are meant to improve safety, support emergency management, and help build safer and more resilient communities over the long term.

There are 27 maps and reports including the Highwood River, the Sheep River, Priddis and the Bow and Elbow rivers.

Many of the flood maps haven't been updated in over 20 years.
