A very successful community event in High River last year is coming back again.

Town council recently provided $4,000 to the Chamber of Commerce and Rowan House for the Picnic With A Purpose.

Ally Cramm with Rowan House is happy it's back.

"We're really excited about it, it's one of those things that was such a success last year we really wanted to do it again, but we knew that it's not something we could sustainably do ourselves, so it is great news," she says.

She says working with the Chamber removes the event from being just a Rowan House event and takes it to the level of a real community initiative which was their original goal with all the organizations in High River coming together to make it happen.

"We know we're going to have a petting zoo thanks to the Greater Foothills Family Centre, lots of live entertainment, a twoonie bar-b-que, face painting and lots of great stuff for the whole family so it's coming together, and we're really excited for it," she says.

It's set for Sunday June 11 at George Lane Park from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
